There’s nothing worse than owning a performance car but only ever driving it on the road. Today’s performance cars are so advanced they deserve more than doing the shopping run. What sports cars need is a racetrack where they can really test their mettle.
Here, we’re going to look at some of the wildest, most head-spinning tracks where you can take your car today.
Circuit Of The Americas
The Circuit of the Americas is near to Austin, Texas. It was only built five years ago. But since then, it’s made quite an impact. Although it’s still young, it already has a spot on the Formula 1 calendar. And it plays host to some of the best racing days you’re likely to see. Most people who go to these track days at the Circuit of the Americas make modifications to their cars. There are, of course, plenty of places you can go online. But the best sites usually sell a combination of performance parts for racing cars and high-performance boats. The Circuit of the Americas is certainly worthy reason to upgrade your car before race day.
Laguna Seca
Laguna Seca is perhaps one of the most famous tracks in the world. Most of us heard about it after spending hours playing Gran Turismo or Forza. But nothing quite compares to going there are racing around it in the flesh.
The circuit is 2.27 miles long and has 11 turns. The most famous corner is the corkscrew. The is a chicane that includes a five-and-a-half story drop. No doubt, you’ve come off there a few times in the driving simulators. Do you think you could hack it in real life? There’s only one way to find out, and that’s to do and do it yourself.
The Laguna Seca track is regularly rented out to clubs by the owners. So the best way of racing on the track is to join a local club and reserve a date in your calendar for visiting the track.
Road Atlanta
Road Atlanta is a 2.5-mile track, just a hop, skip and jump away from the city of Atlanta itself. Again, this is a circuit that many of you will have raced around on video games.
But, as with so many other experiences, nothing quite compares to the real thing. As with Laguna Seca, car clubs usually rent out the track. This is the most economical way to get access to track time.
Virginia International Raceway
The Virginia Raceway was first opened back in 1957. And, as a result, it’s got some of that old-school toughness about it. Here you’ll find 17 tough bends along a course that goes on for 3.27 miles. If you want to race on the track on a regular basis, you’ve got a couple of options. One option is to join the Virginia International Raceway club itself. This will set you back well over $1000. The other option, as before, is to join a local club. Prices here start from $500 and climb from there. Of course, with club membership, you won’t get so much access to the track.
