Vegetarian and vegan foods have come a long way over the past decade or two – and Sweet Earth Foods are a pretty great example of this area of food stuffs having completely shaken off an image of flavorless food.
Available form Target this brand has not only re-defined what it means to be a veggie and vegan meal in a meat lover’s world – but have also made me re-think convenience food.
Here’s why…
Meet Curry Tiger
OK, let’s start first with the taste (where else?). So Curry Tiger does exactly what it says on the tin (or box, as the case may be) – Indian infused flavors with spices in a dish packed full of lentils, sweet potatoes, broccoli, brown rice and quinoa. Having read the pack, I also now know that it’s full of protein, fibre and vitamins A and C. So, what’s the verdict from this meat lover? Well that would be simple: it’s simply delicious. Full stop.
Fresh? Frozen? Never!
Before I tucked in and fuelled up on this stuff, I took the fact that the dish claimed to be full of the ‘freshest’ ingredients with a literal pinch of salt – I mean, the frozen aisles are literally almost always a fast track for cardio vascular disease, right? However, after having scooped every last morsel off my plate, it did indeed taste freshly prepared. The question then is, how (especially with a product that actively promotes itself as hailing from another corner of the globe). On researching this I found that it’s all down to the quickness of the veggie sourcing, the cooking approach and the quick freeze finish. Which all means (in Layman’s terms) that you and I get all the nutrition as if this had been whipped up for us fresh in a restaurant kitchen… nice to know, right?
Who are Sweet Earth Natural Foods?
After having tried but a single dish from Sweet Earth Foods, I checked out their website – and I have to say, that had I not already known these guys were health specialists, I’d have likely thought that they were delicious but seriously calorific specialists (which actually I don’t mind, given that I’m partial to a Friday night Pizza – which likely accounts for about 4000 calories!).
Instead, I feel pretty zen, as Sweet Earth serve as a ‘Mindful’ health food brand, connoisseurs of cooking up a storm with inspiration from other regions around the world (and at just 370 calories, I’ve had a full, flavorsome meal that hasn’t immediately slipped down to my waistline).
Fancy a taste of the exotic?
I defy any person – vegetarian, vegan or meat lover, to try this dish and not love it (and it seems that many others agree with me – as you can see from their glowing Facebook reviews!).
