Summer is a great time to take trips. Regardless of where you live, there are some sights that should never be passed up and that you should see at least once in your life. Yellowstone National Park is one of those sights. In case you’re unfamiliar, Yellowstone is a huge, 3,500sqm Reserve/national Park located mostly in Wyoming. Because it’s so large, it is however partially in Montana and Idaho too.
There are tons of things to do in Yellowstone, but there are some things you definitely have to do, which were going to talk about in this article, along with some of the best places to stay.
Animals
There is an incredible amount of wildlife in Yellowstone and if you’re lucky and only see half, I’m sure you’ll agree that’s still way better than what you’ll see in your daily life. From bears and bison to wolves and antelope, there are so many different species that are native to the area of Yellowstone, and that makes them pretty special. You don’t always need to even go in search of these animals, as you’ll see they’re everywhere– they find you.
The Geysers
This is probably the biggest attraction of Yellowstone to public. For most of us, these natural springs that’s shoot water into the air because of underground gas is an incredible, beautiful and miraculous sight. Old Faithful is of course the main one, it’s name deriving from the fact that it is as faithful as anything– erupting at most every 2 hours. However, other notable geysers include Echinus Geyser, Firehole Lake Drive and Castle Geyser. At the end of the day, you can’t go wrong.
Hot Springs
Hot springs are another huge attraction to Yellowstone. These hot springs are impressive and beautiful colors, probably unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. The park is pretty much made of these hot springs so you’ll see them everywhere you go, however there are a few especially great ones you should take the time to see if possible. Mammoth Hot Springs is exactly how it sounds– mammoth and amazing. Minerva Terraces are another spectacular sight, with the boiling water flowing down terraces like a small waterfall. Also, Orange Spring Mound is an amazing and rock formation made of limestone the will be like nothing you’ve seen before, guaranteed.
Where To Stay
The most popular thing to do at Yellowstone is to camp, which lends itself to a whole slew of experiences, but if camping is really not your thing don’t fret because there are some awesome lodges you can stay at that have a cool, rustic feel but also provide you with running water and electricity. Old Faithful Inn is my personal favorite, it’s a beautiful huge lodge, but it’s also very luxurious. Other great options are Cascade Lodge and Lake Yellowstone Hotel and Cabins.
Yellowstone has tons of stuff to do, see, and stay and it will make for a perfect vacation in the summer. It’s impressive how much stuff is in this one National Park and regardless of where you live, you should make the time to see it at least once.
