2014 will mark the 20th anniversary of the death of one of the greatest Formula One race car driver, Ayrton Senna. To commemorate the occasion, Ducati has created a limited edition bike called the 1199 Panigale S Senna. The bike will only be available in Brazil and only 161 units will be produced, the number 161 is significant because that’s how many F1 races Senna took part in.
Senna was a big fan of Ducati motorcycles and visited the company’s Bologna factory a few weeks before his death at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix in Italy. The colors chosen for the 1199 Panigale S Senna were the colors Senna chose when he visited the factory in 1994.
The Ducati 1199 Panigale S Senna is based on the standard 1199 Panigale, which is powered by a Superquadro twin-cylinder engine that producing 195 horsepower, the bike weighs 361 pounds dry. The limited edition bike will go on sale in 2014 and will feature the matte grey/black with red wheels paint scheme only. The bikes will be fitted with full race exhausts and each bike will come with its limited edition number inscribed at the top of the fork. Via: Ducati
