Modern technology is a beautiful thing, every year we’re bombarded with the latest smart phones, tablets, and many other devices that make our lives easier. We all want the latest and greatest, which creates a big problem… old phones and tablets that no one seems to want. I currently have quite the arsenal of old phones and a tablet or two, and I’m sure you do too.
I don’t really know what to do with them, throwing them in the trash just feels wrong and I don’t really have time to look for recycling places. There’s a pretty cool alternative now, called ecoATM. An ATM machine that gives you cold hard cash for your old devices (phones, tablets, and MP3 players only).
All you have to do is sign up with the company and get your ID, check out the price for your device on their app, find a location near you, and take you old device and insert it into the machine. The ecoATM will scan the item and offer you the highest price based on the device’s condition, which you can accept or reject. If you accept, you get some cash in your pocket, if you reject, you get to go home with your old device.
The company either refurbishes or recycles these devices and the service is currently only available in the United States, with plans to expansion into other countries. The ecoATM machines also accept old chargers and cases, but you don’t get cash for those. For more information, check out ecoatm.com.
