When people find out I work from home, they automatically think I spend every single day sleeping late until I finally fall out of bed and spend the day sitting in front of my computer in my pajamas. The truth is if working from home was like that, I wouldn’t get much done. The reality is that you have to be disciplined and regimented to be productive when you work from home. Part of the way I get going every day is to get in a good workout.
On days when the weather is nice, I love cycling. There’s nothing like hitting the trails and losing myself as the trees whiz past. Even when I’m out and about in Warsaw, I bike everywhere I possibly can. It clears my head and energizes me to get things done when I get home.
When the weather’s cold or rainy, I head to the indoor rock climbing gym. I get bored with regular gyms and rock climbing is so much fun that it doesn’t feel like a workout. The feeling of accomplishment I get from it helps give me the confidence I need to push forward to achieve the goals I set for each day.
Two totally different workouts: yet they’ve both always posed the same problem for me. I like to listen to music when I exercise, and I couldn’t find a good set of headphones. For cycling, It was tough finding a pair that allowed me to hear what was going on around me. I had the same problem with rock climbing – not wanting my hearing blocked – and also I needed a set of headphones that were light and not prone to falling off of my head.
Enter AfterShokz Trekz Air
After blowing through (and being disappointed by) several pairs of headphones, I finally ordered a pair of AfterShokz Trekz Air after reading about them online. Cyclists, runners, and legions of other exercise enthusiasts raved about the quality and comfort of these headphones, so I figured I’d give them a try.
At first glance, they looked like something out of a Star Trek episode. They have a sleek wraparound style and the speakers themselves aren’t even recognizable as earphone speakers. That’s because they don’t work the way typical headphones or ear buds do. With the Trekz Air, you don’t put the speaker in or over your ear. Instead, you tuck it behind your ear and hear the music through bone conduction technology. The phones actually transmit the sound through your cheekbones. How cool is that?
This leaves my ears open for hearing cars and people when I’m cycling around town. It also helps me stay aware of what’s going on around me if I’m jogging or rock climbing at the gym.
Light, Wireless, and Comfortable
When they designed the Trekz Air, AfterShokz was determined to make them as light as possible. They definitely succeeded. They’re made of titanium, so they’re light and incredibly durable. I’ve worn them all day long while working out, riding public transport, and listening to music while I work. They sound absolutely fantastic – and their LeakSlayer technology means that I don’t disturb the people around me.
They’re also great to use for business. The Bluetooth connectivity and noise-canceling microphones means that I can take calls for work and the person on the other end never has a problem hearing me. The Audrey Says voice prompts make pairing, powering up, and using the headphones a snap.
I’m insanely happy with the Trekz Air. After trying many different types of headphones, I’ve finally found a pair I’ll be using for a long time to come.
