The Maserati Quattroporte has been a pretty successful sports sedan for the Italian carmaker, and now it’s getting a sibling called the Maserati Ghibli. The Ghibli looks very similar to the new Quattroporte but is a bit smaller and is aimed at the like of BMW 5-Series, Mercedes E-Class, Audi A6/A7, and the Cadillac CTS.
The Maserati Ghibli is built on a shortened version of the platform from the Quattroporte; the car measures roughly 16.5 feet (5 meters) long. The car will be available with a choice of two gasoline turbocharged 3.0 liter V6 engines, mated to 8-speed automatic transmissions. The Ghibli will also be available with a turbocharged 3.0 liter V6 diesel engine, a first for Maserati.
The interior features the usual Italian flair with leather, carbon fiber, and bucket seats.
Maserati didn’t release any info other than provided above, the car will be officially unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show later this month, and we’ll do a detailed write-up on the Maserati Ghibli once the car is unveiled. Stay tuned…
