The Flux Hoodie by Triple Aught Design

It’s finally spring, the sun is shining down brightly, and with the changes of seasons comes a change of wardrobe.

I’m always excited about the spring… I’m not much of a winter kind of person, and prefer the flexibility the other seasons afford me in terms of what I can wear. It’s nice to shed my bulky winter jackets for hoodies and T-Shirts; the only problem is that most of my old hoodies no longer fit me properly. A good hoodie should be fitted, but when it makes you look like a sausage? Well, not so much.

Thankfully, there’s a solution. I’ve covered Triple Aught Design (TAD) quite a bit over the years, and today I’m going to review one of their classic, recently revised pieces: the Flux Hoodie.

A Hoodie for a Climate in Flux

I don’t know about where you live, but here in Albany, the weather has been absolutely crazy. Spring has come much later than usual, and temperatures have swung wildly not only from day to day, but hour to hour. This makes it extremely difficult to dress appropriately. Layering is essential, and that’s why I love pieces like the Flux hoodie so much.

The sun was beating down in these photos, but the wind was also blasting away at me. The abrasion-resistant nylon shell bonded to the Active Merino inner did a great job keeping the temperature just right for all but the hottest parts of the day.

Pretty sharp looking, eh? As you’ll see in a bit, the Flux Hoodie is as practical as it is stylish. I hope you like exploring…

But first, let’s check out a few more photos of me gazing off into the distance.

Or… I can show you something useful. Here I’m wearing the Flux Hoodie with my fingers through the thumbholes. Not really needed for such a sunny day, but these guys come in handy for a) putting on a jacket over top when you’re layering, and b) keeping your hands warm when the wind is cold.

Or clutching onto a railing for dear life, lest I plunge into the muddy waters of whatever ancient canal this is flowing below.

Hmm, what’s this over here?

I just couldn’t resist.

Now, the trouble with well made apparel is that it’s often difficult to point out what makes the piece so great. After all, when something is bad, it tends to stand out, but truly great things by nature are just great through and through. The Flux Hoodie is one such piece. It’s a classic pullover with kangaroo pockets, but the construction and style make it a piece worthy of any adventurer’s wardrobe… even of the urban variety.

If you live an active lifestyle and are looking for a great layering piece that’s both stylish and functional, look no further than Triple Aught Design’s Flux Hoodie. You’ll find it on their website for about $135 USD.

  1. How does this fit? The Praetorian is super small. The XXL didn’t come close to fitting me. Do you know if this was built bigger than the Praetorian? I’m ordering it in xxxl, so hopefully that will do the trick.
