Focal, the company known for their Locus Workstation, has another very cool product called Mogo which acts as a portable upright seat. There has been numerous times when I’m out grocery shopping and I just feel like having a seat while the lady browses the aisles and takes her sweet ass time. There is not many places I can have a seat at a grocery/clothing store and it’s a bit strange for an adult to sit there on the floor like a little child.
This is where the Mogo, the portable upright seat could become very useful and it’s something you can use just about anywhere you go. The device doesn’t exactly act as a seat but more of a leaning device where your position is halfway between sitting and standing. There are benefits to sitting on the Mogo if used correctly as it encourages small, beneficial correcting movements from a sitter’s legs, which prevents the user from becoming sedentary.
The Focal Mogo weighs in at only 2.1 pounds and it completely collapsible so that it can fit into your backpack or even strap to it. It’s made out of extruded and anodized aluminum, rubber, and fiberglass-reinforced nylon. Mogo also has a reversible rubber base for hard and turf surfaces. This human kickstand extends via three telescoping sections and when fully retracted, the Mogo is only 18-inches in length while it measures in at 37-inches when fully extended.
The Focal Mogo can be adjusted in one-inch increments so it doesn’t matter what height you are, you should be able to find the perfect seat anywhere. But there is one problem, the Mogo is only “rated” to support up to 200 pounds. That still works for me but unfortunately some people will feel left out. The fiberglass reinforced saddle seat is apparently very comfortable with its raised central portion and downward tilt allowing the user to have the ideal posture.
The idea of this sounds pretty cool and I can see it being a convenient device but the only downside is that you’ll look very awkward doing it. If you’re interested in picking up the Focal Mogo, it can be yours for $100 and is available at the Focal website.
