Eating is great, and there are few things about food that we dislike, but unfortunately there are some foods that we should stay away from, and some especially if you’re a man. Between gaining extra weight or clogging your arteries, there are foods that you should stay away for your own health. Although we don’t like to tell people what to eat or not, you should at least be informed. But to balance things out and make this not totally depressing, we’ll talk about some of the really awesome foods you can eat too.
Bad for you:
Fish Sticks
We’ll start with something that probably won’t make a huge difference to your life. Although fish in itself is healthy, fish covered in fried stuff, not so much. Stay away from it or run the risk of heart attack.
Buttered Popcorn
I know, I know, what’s a movie without buttered popcorn? But this stuff is full of terrible things for you, from sugar to fats. Luckily, if you eat it plane or lightly salted, it’s much healthier. So you don’t have to say goodbye to popcorn at the movies forever.
Muffins
Surprisingly, muffins are really quite bad for you. You might think they’re full of nutrients and are a good way to start your day, especially if they have something like blueberries in them. Unfortunately, muffins are basically glorified cupcakes, and we all know those don’t do you any favors.
Pretzels
A great go-to snack, pretzels are insanely high in calories and salt, which can do lots of damage to your health and weight.
Fast Food Burgers/French Fries
This isn’t news, but I feel it should be included. McDonalds and Wendy’s burgers and fries are bad for your heart, your arteries, your weight, pretty much they’re bad for everything.
Juice
Ok, hear me out. Not all juice is bad, obviously. But you need to make sure you’re buying all natural, because otherwise the added sugar will be terrible for you and your body will store it as fat, rather than burn it as energy. All juice in large amounts isn’t great for you either, since all fruits and vegetables have natural amounts of sugar in them.
Good for you
Here’s the fun part, all the wonderful things you can eat…… in moderation.
Bagels
No, you can’t have a muffin, but you can have a delicious bagel. Although it has carbs, bagels in moderation can be quite good for you, especially if you get a variety with seeds and multi-grain and have it either in the morning or early afternoon.
Eggs
While we’re on breakfast food, these are also great for your body. They are also very easy to make and as we all know, us men can be pretty lazy when it comes to food prep so eggs is a perfect, delicious and healthy option.
Pizza
In moderation, pizza isn’t so bad for you. A study found that men who ate a small pizza once a week had a 22% lower change of suffering a coronary.
Nachos
With regular baked chips, low fat cheeses and fresh tomatoes, spring onions and jalapenos, nachos aren’t that bad for you.
So there are you, although some of these things might shock and upset you (like juice), you can rest assured you can still eat your Friday pizzas and nachos at the games.
