When I was first shown this “song” about 20 minutes ago, two things came to mind. First I was going to say “as much as I rail against everyone posting cat stuff…” and also “does this really surprise you?“. Instead of choosing just one, I’ll use both. I hope you understand.
So yes, this really is a cat meowing the theme for Game of Thrones, and yes, here I am posting it. Just in case you’re wondering, the cat’s name is Arya, cause hell, why not?
Game of Thrones as Sung by a Cat
I grew up in a family that almost exclusively gave us Siamese cats as pets, and though none of ours ever sang songs this elaborate, their meows really did sound like this… minus the auto-tuning. You may think it’s cute, but after a cat sits beside you meowing for an hour while you’re trying to work, before inevitably walking all over your keyboard, well… I promise you it gets old. I’ve vowed not to own another cat, at least not until I have a pet monkey named Bonhomme to take care of it. As you probably well know, cats are a stupid amount of work. Cleaning a litter box? Pfft, forget it.
Now, Herbert Costa – the fine fellow who created this wonderful tune – hasn’t created a ton of video, but what he lacks in quantity, he’s more than made up for in… quality? I discovered another video of his titled Epic Trip (Tollbooth) in which a smoker (I’m assuming it’s a smoker… you’ll see) sings about driving down a road, and having to stop at a tollbooth. I guarantee, the sound of angels… the voice of god whispering in your ear, are not half so beautiful as this song. I guarantee that you’ll weep… from the beauty, of course.
The Real Game of Thrones…
Yeah, so that was a thing, and if you haven’t read the books, then you probably think I’m a crazy person. So if that’s the case, consider reading the books or at least watching the first season. This probably won’t make too much more sense, but you’ll have read an awesome series of books, watched an awesome show, or both.
