GoPro has released their latest line of cameras called HD HERO3; these cameras are smaller in size, lighter, and pack even more features than before. The GoPro HD HERO3 line consists of 3 cameras with different specs, ranging in price from $199 – $399.
The three cameras are known as “Black Edition”, “Silver Edition”, and “White Edition”, although none of the cameras are painted in those colors, instead they come in the standard silver and black livery. The cameras are 25% lighter and 30% smaller than the previous models and all come with built-in Wi-Fi.
GoPro HD HERO3 Black Edition
This is the top of the line camera and is twice as powerful as the HERO2 with better low-light performance. This camera can shoot videos in 4K resolution at a rate of 15 frames per second or 2.7K resolution at 30 fps. The camera can shoot 12 megapixel still shots with a 30 fps burst shot. It comes with a Wi-Fi remote and GoPro App compatibility. The Black Edition is available for pre-order at $399.99.
GoPro HD HERO3 Silver Edition
This is the middle of the line camera; it’s like the HERO2 but with built-in Wi-Fi. This camera can shot in 1080p resolution at 30 fps and take stills shots at 11 megapixels with bursts of 10 fps. The Silver Edition is priced at $299.99.
GoPro HD HERO3 White Edition
This is the lowest model in the line and is aimed at the non-professionals, pretty much a rebranded HERO1. It can shoot in 1080p resolution at 30 fps and take still shots at 5 megapixels with burst of 3 fps or 11 megapixels without burst. The White Edition is priced at $199.99.
All of these cameras are water resistant to 60 meters (197 feet) and come with microSD cards. Check out the video below, all shot with GoPro cameras.
