Big money is being made and spent in East; emerging economies of China, India, and the Middle East are getting the attention of a lot of goods manufacturers, especially luxury goods. Manufacturers of cars, watches, and other high priced items are creating products specifically designed for these markets.
Watchmaker Grieb & Bezinger has produced a special watch for a wealthy client from the Middle East, called the Pharos Al Arab Imperial. The watch is said to be inspired by the Arabian Sea, and I can see the Middle Eastern flavor in the watch’s design.
The dial is very reminiscent of the Arabian Sea, with its blue waves and the reflection of the sun at the top of the waves. The gold in the dial reminds me of the beige/sand color of the buildings seen in classic Arab architecture.
The Greib & Bezinger Pharos Al Arab Imperial watch comes in a 43 mm rose gold case with 66 Princess cut diamonds encrusted in the bezel. The dial looks very clean and elegant, with the outer dial featuring the English-Arabic numbers for the minutes and Arab-Arabic numerals on the sub-dial for the hours. There’s a small second sub-dial for the seconds. The hand-crafted guilloché blue dial changes colors in changing light and nicely sets off the rose-gold surrounding it.
The Greib & Bezinger Pharos Al Arab Imperial watch is powered by a Swiss hand-wound mechanical movement and comes with a blue alligator leather strap with rose gold buckle. The Greib & Bezinger Pharos Al Arab Imperial watch has a pretty hefty price tag of €82,000, or about $110,000 US at today’s exchange rate. Via: G&B
