Looks like Harley-Davidson has finally left the 1930’s behind and joined us in the 21st century. The American motorcycle builder has just released some information on their newest bike, a bike which is not powered by a rumbling gasoline V-Twin engine but by an electric motor!! Who woulda thunk it.
The electric bike is called the Harley-Davidson Project Livewire (sounds like a Microsoft service), and is a concept that will be taken on a tour across the USA and shown at various H-D dealerships to gauge customer reactions. The bike will make its way across Canada and Europe in 2015.
Don’t expect to hear the loud (and annoying) sound of a V-Twin here, the bike sound like an electric vehicle, or like a small jet engine, in the video below. With this electric bike at least we won’t have to hear the bullshit about “loud pipes save lives”.
The Livewire electric motorcycle looks pretty good; you won’t find much chrome on this bike, at least in stock form. The frame and double-sided swing arm are finished in matte black and the rest of the bike is painted black with red accents.
Harley-Davidson didn’t provide any information on the engine, performance, or battery life, but did say the bike will have “tire-shredding performance…”. Via: HD
