Headhunters – Swedish Thieving Adventures

I’m always excited when I discover a new foreign film. Often times I find them overly artistic or completely unintelligible, but when they’re good, they’re good. Headhunters, by Swedish director Morten Tyldum, follows the life of an accomplished headhunter who risks everything to relieve (read: steal) a priceless painting from a former mercenary. Sounds like a pretty bad idea, right?

The trailer starts out with an albino-looking Christopher Walken doppelgänger in police custody as a massive truck slams into the vehicle he’s being held in. That’s interesting, but what’s even better is that the truck is driven by a certain Jaime Lannister that all you fans of Game of Thrones are sure to recognize.

There’s nothing better than a heist or thieving film, and Headhunters looks like a winner. The trailer looks action packed, but intelligent, and all of the shots look great. My favourite part(s) are definitely Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) romping around with a pistol. He’s an absolute badass with a sword, and even more awesome with a gun. Given that I’ve only heard him speak English, I’m interested to see what his voice sounds like speaking Swedish. I mean, providing the studio decides to keep the film in its original language. Would they really have Nikolaj dub his own English speaking voice over his Swedish voice? That would be quite the feat.

Headhunters was already released in Sweden last year, but will be making its journey to North America this April. If you’re looking for more information on the film, you can head over to the IMDB page. Be warned, though, that there are numerous spoilers!
