Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number — ‘Dial Tone’ Trailer + Screenshots

Hotline Miami was one of the most unexpectedly enjoyable games I’ve ever played.

When I finally gave it a try about a year ago, I did so with complete reluctance. For one thing, I was beyond drunk and didn’t feel like doing much of anything, and secondly, I looked down on indie games. Most of the games I had seen looked like crap, and played even worse. Not so with Hotline Miami.

The soundtrack was awesome, the gameplay fast, gruesome, and satisfying, and though the graphics were pretty basic, they just… worked.

Wrong Number, or Right Number?

It’s now been a few years since Hotline Miami first arrived, and I’ve had a hankering for some more. Thanksfully, Hotline Miami 2 is in the works! Jonatan Söderström and Dennis Wedin have teamed up again, and though I really don’t care for Jonatan, well… he’s a talented game maker.

So here are a few screenshots from Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, as well as a short trailer showing off some of the classic gameplay we know and love, as well as samples of the great new music we can expect this time around.

This looks about as family friendly as the first one. I think they’ve nailed it.

Word on the street is that there will be approximately 20 chapters, with a wide assortment of playable characters, each “set against a variety of new locations and time periods.” I’ll be interested to see what they mean by that last bit.

Now, unfortunately there’s no firm release date, but according to a Tweat by one of the developers, we can expect Hotline Miami 2 in the 3rd quarter of this 2014. That’s not too bad, and I have a feeling this one is going to be well worth the wait.
