Hyundai is making some pretty nice cars these days and are working hard to establish themselves among the European brands. Their efforts over the last decade have certainly paid off and here is another example of how its taking aim at BMW’s M division and AMG from Mercedes-Benz. ARK Performance, accustomed to modifying Hyundai’s for SEMA, have given car enthusiasts a sneak peek at their latest creation – Hyundai Genesis AR550.
The SEMA show hosts tuning companies from all over the world showcasing their vehicles from all walks of life with modifications ranging from mild to wild at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The stock Hyundai Genesis 5.0-liter V8 is pretty powerful producing 420 horsepower but to compete with the European boys, it needs more. The Genesis AR550 features a Rotrex supercharger, an ARK free-flow exhaust system, performance intake, and downpipes helping the vehicle achieve 550hp.
Other performance enhancements include the use of a more firm suspension system to stiffen up the ride and reduce body roll while larger Brembo brakes are used to bring this beat to a halt. The most obvious changes from the outside is the use of an aerodynamics package giving it a much wider stance. This bodykit package includes wider wheel arches, wider front and rear bumpers with carbon fiber lip spoiler and splitters, and carbon fiber side skirts. The Hyundai Genesis AR550 also gets a set of lightweight forged ARK wheels wrapped in performance Nitto NT05 tires.
No pictures of the interior are available but apparently its appointed with lavish Katzkin diamond-stitched leather seats and interior panels. More details will be available as we get closer to the 2014 SEMA show in November. Now, will Hyundai actually work with ARK Performance to develop something that will actually hit showroom floors? Probably not but one can hope.
