Lexus is really trying to change its image with their new vehicles and their new design language. Here’s their latest creation, the Lexus RC coupe, in production form. The vehicle is based on the Lexus LF-CC concept they presented last year; I think once they start selling this car, it’ll probably be called the Lexus IS Coupe.
The Lexus RC coupe looks similar to the LF-CC concept, but with a smaller front grill area, which is a good thing in my opinion. The back-end is actually more aggressive, which is a different take on the design, considering this is a production-ready car and the LF-CC was a concept (normally, concepts are the more aggressive ones). On the side, there aren’t any changes and the side profile of this car is very smooth and clutter free.
At the front, the RC coupe features the same Nike swoosh type daytime running lights, under the headlights, that are found on the Lexus IS sedan. However, the headlights on the RC are larger, giving the front a better balance; I always thought the headlights on the new IS were too small, they look very un-proportional to the rest of the front-end of the car.
The Lexus RC or IS coupe will initially be offered in two flavors: the RC350 and RC300h. The RC350 will be powered by a 3.5 liter V6 engine and the RC300h will be powered by a hybrid 2.5 liter V6 engine. Lexus hasn’t provided power figures for this car but we expect them to be 306 and 220 HP respectively, if the engines are from the sedan.
The Lexus RC coupe will be unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show in late November. Via: Lexus
