Honda used to be a cool car company, over a decade or so ago. I don’t really know what happened to them… Over the last 10 years or so, they’ve been producing absolutely uninspired cars (queue the fan boys), not in terms of reliability, but in terms of excitement.
This is the company that gave us cars like the NSX and the S2000, and now all they make is boring family cars. These people just drive the cars from point A to B, with no potential of experiencing a thing called fun. Back in the day, even Honda’s family/economy cars were exciting – cars like the Civic, which were extremely popular among the young-tuner crowd. Heck, they even had three Civics’ as the bad guys’ getaway cars n the first “Fast
& Furious” movie. Oh Honda, what has happened to you?
Anyways, enough of my ramblings, Honda is trying to bring the “cool” back to their cars with stuff like the NSX Concept, which they say will be made into a production vehicle in a year or two. For now, those of you wanting style from a Honda will have to settle for the Honda Accord Coupe V6 HFP (I know it’s a far cry from the NSX).
The limited edition package, I’m guessing it’s limited because there isn’t much demand for it, tries to enhance the looks of the already boring Accord Coupe, I can’t say they’ve succeeded. The HFP package consists of a front and rear chin spoilers, a trunk lid spoiler, side skirts, 19” wheels, and HFP badges on the sides and trunk; these HFP badges add about 10 mph each, to the top speed. The car also, supposedly, handles better thanks the 0.6” lower ride height. Other “upgrades” include HFP floor mats; which should add another 10 mph to the top speed, and red illumination on the inside.
The Honda Accord Coupe V6 HFP will be limited to only 500 units, at a price of $4,620 plus labor to install. I’d say get your wallets out before these amazing limited edition Accords are all gone, there surely are going to be sought after cars, 20 years from now. 😉
