With continued decline in sales for Suzuki over the last few years, its no surprise that they no longer plan on selling cars and SUVs in the United States (Canada is still okay) once their inventory is depleted. At some point in time, Suzuki got left behind in the dust as other car manufacturers stepped it up and gave consumers vehicles that they wanted. I wonder if anything would be different if Suzuki continued to sell the Swift in North America? Or if at least they brought it back a few years ago when the popularity of sub-compact vehicles skyrocketed.
While it may be game over for Suzuki in the USA, business continues to grow in other markets and the Swift is going strong in other parts of the world. Suzuki will be attending the 2013 Autosport International and plans on unveiling several special edition cars and motorcycles.
Two of the vehicles will include the legendary Suzuki Swift known for affordability and fuel economy. One of the models will be the Suzuki Swift SZ-L which will be powered by a 1.2-liter gasoline engine and the one that caught my attention is the Swift SZ-R which is powered by a 1.6-liter gasoline engine.
No word yet on specifics but from the looks of it, they got some aerodynamic packages going for them and the two-tone paint scheme works surprisingly well with that body shape. I’m really digging this two-tone paint and I’m certain it would sell well. Maybe Suzuki will consider bringing it back to Canada? More details to follow.
