The Living Canvas — Alexa Meade Turns People Into Paintings

I’ll tell you something… I’ve never liked getting messy.

As a child, I hated getting food on my hands at dinner. I couldn’t standing mud from the playground. Most of all, I was terrified at the prospect of getting my face painted. I was a strange little kid, and all these years later I still don’t like mess.

Thankfully for all involved, Los Angeles based artist Alexa Meade isn’t covering me in acrylic paint. No, I think I’ll leave that to the models.

Walking Paintings

Though I would never let anyone near my face with a paint brush, the end result is absolutely striking. When I saw the thumbnails for these photos, I just assumed they were regular paintings. As I suspect you’ll see in a moment, the mistake is pretty easy to make.

Even here seeing the process in action, one side of her face really does look like an acrylic painting. Maybe that’s because she’s, you know… covering her face in paint. In any case, work with me here!

This one really messes with my mind. It’s only if you look right down at the models feet that you’re absolutely certain this is a real, living person.

And on we go. Enjoy the rest of the collection and we’ll catch up again in at the end of your little viewing session.

Pretty cool, right? I hope these people moisturize their skin after, though… yikes.

In any case, I’ve only included a handful of Alexa’s work here. If you’re interested in seeing years worth of her creative works, then head over to her website and take a look around. She’s done a ton of cool stuff, including some exceedingly creepy surrealist reflection art. If that doesn’t make sense, just trust me… it’s some seriously creepy artwork.

Also, I’m not crazy for not liking messy things on me, right?
