I’ve written about watches with GPS, watches that send out emergency signals, even watches that let you answer your phone and emails. But never a watch with a flashlight, heck I didn’t even know there was a need for such a watch.
But I guess there is a need, and here’s the Luminox SureFire 2211 Wristlight Tactical watch. The watch is designed for tactical response teams, like the L.A. Police department’s firearm team. Now you too can own a tactical watch for a price of $795, it comes in handy while you’re playing a round of Modern Warfare ;). The watch is useful for the policemen because it gives them a hands-free light to shine at the “perps”.
The watch is a collaborative effort between watchmaker Luminox and SureFire, a California-based company that specializes in weapons mounted lights and lasers. The flashlight on the Luminox watch not only acts as a light but is also bright enough to temporarily blind and disorient a “perp”. The light also qualifies as a “force-option”, I’m not sure what that means but I’m sure it has something to do with blinding people.
The Luminox SureFire 2211 Wristlight Tactical watch looks quite large, mainly due to the size of the flashlight. I thought those big G-Shock watches measuring 55+ mm were big, but this watch takes the cake with its case measuring 61 mm x 51 mm and is 28 mm thick. The case is anodized aluminum and weighs 143 grams.
The flashlight on the watch is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that can be recharged with a micro-usb, and the light has three different settings: 15, 60, and 300 lumen. At the lowest, 15 lumen, setting, the battery can last up to 13 hours and at the highest setting, it can last up to 1 hour.
The watch itself is Luminox quartz, with a military look to it. It features a uni-directional rotating bezel, the standard three hands, and a date window at the three o’clock position. Via: Surefire
