Sleep is a wonderful state after a long day of adventuring, going to work, or really… just about anything. The trouble is that it’s often tough to fall asleep, especially when you’re sharing a bed with someone else.
In my case, I happen to be that someone else. The person that tosses and turns and prefers the room to be ice cold, a quality my girlfriend doesn’t seem to appreciate. She likes it warm and balmy, making it a challenge each night to actually fall asleep. This is one of those things I expected we would have figured out by now, given that we’ve been sleeping for a pretty long time.
But that’s not the case, at least until very recently when a company called Luna launched an intelligent mattress cover on IndieGoGo.
A mattress that “learns sleep patterns and habits to manage temperate and communicate with a smart phone” sounds pretty damn amazing. That it can regulate temperatures independently on each side of the bed is even better.
It can even track sleep phases, heart rate, and breathing rate, which you already know because you probably watched the video. I know, I know… but I’m excited!
The future of home appliances, furniture, decor, and even mattress covers… is intelligent. They’ll become smarter and more connected, giving us more data than ever to use in (hopefully) positive ways. This kind of data is powerful, and can allow us to make incredibly positive changes to our lives. Let’s just hope the security is every bit as impressive as the rest of the technology.
