Looking good isn’t about having luck or having lots of money. Looking good – and feeling good, in particular – comes from taking care of yourself. When you pay an extra bit of attention to your health, your hygiene and your happiness than looking good will come naturally. So, if you’re not sure how to go about such a thing, here’s what you can do:
Health
A healthy diet and regular exercise are important first steps to looking good. Of course, there’s no such thing as a quick fix when it comes to your physical health. It takes changing your entire lifestyle and maintaining good habits, but it’s incredibly worth it. The right diet consisting of a good balance of vitamins, minerals, starches and proteins can make your skin clearer, thicken your hair, strengthen your teeth and bones and help you develop muscle. Exercise can also do wonders for your appearance, and not just because you’ll be developing muscles. Exercise can actually help you look younger and reduce the rate at which your cells age, mean that you’ll be wrinkle free for a lot longer than your inactive peers. Exercises that focus on core strength can also great improve your posture, helping you stand tall and show off your new, youthful face.
Hygiene
Hygiene is the next step to looking good and without proper hygiene you’ll never make any progress. If you don’t shower or bathe on a regular basis oils and dirt can clog your pores and cause you to break out in spots, and this doesn’t only happen on your face. However, the sort of hygiene you need to look your best goes beyond simply showering every now and then. It’s time to invest in some products. It’s okay to go the extra mile with some of your beauty products. Of course, there’s no need to go overboard. Try exfoliators, cleansers, and moisturizers to keep your skin soft and clear. Use good quality oils and creams when shaving to prevent razor rash or ingrown hairs. If you’re looking to whiten your teeth, try some gentle, whitening toothpaste. Then, finish off your routine by trimming and cleaning your nails. Sometimes looking your best is just a matter of keeping yourself neat and tidy.
Happiness
Looking good ends with feeling good. We all look our best when we’re smiling and confidence goes a long way. There have been studies that hint that good self-esteem can actually improve the way we look. When we lack confidence we tend to get stressed about our appearance, which can actually lead to premature ageing. The last step to looking good is working on your confidence. Hopefully after you improve your health and hygiene you will already be noticing an improvement in your confidence and a rise in your self-esteem. However, if you’re still feeling the same as you were before you may want to turn your focus towards your mental and emotional health. Happiness has its own health benefits, including its ability to strengthen our immune system and prevent diseases. So, don’t neglect your happiness while you’re working to improve yourself.
