Most older guys will fondly reminisce about the days where they created customized (read: poor as shit) man caves with milk crates, two by fours, and cinderblocks. Something about the way the manly design of this makeshift modular crap is fondly remembered always made it something that a small part of me wanted to try, just because it seemed like a rite of passage. I usually snap back to reality pretty quickly, realize I don’t want trash in my apartment, and pull out the Ikea catalog. Then I found Sergio Silva‘s pieces, and suddenly the “I’m so broke I cook my KD on the radiator” look has been upgraded to a much more respectable “I have many leather bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.”
Manly Design with Wooden Cinderblocks and Oil Lamps – Sergio Silva
Okay, so it’s actually rich Walnut. Regardless, these wooden cinderblocks have a masculine edge and beautiful grain that makes them perfect for the discerning man. And if you happen to be into more contemporary black and white, stark contrast based schemes, then there are also ceramic clay cinderblocks that have a perfect polished look.
Candles and candle holders are one of those things that most guys won’t (and shouldn’t) touch with a ten foot pole, but an open flame is undeniably awesome. Unfortunately, oil lamps are often kitschy, girly affairs, or really old school death traps, so it’s not something you’ll see included in a lot of guys’ decor. However, these re-purposed light bulbs are set on an acrylic base and look totally badass… something a soy lemon handmade votive candle will never, ever do.
I would like to know the price of your wooden cinder blocks
Where can we find these wooden Cinder Blocks?????
