Mercedes-Benz has finally revealed the new ‘CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake’ after an on-line teaser video showing minor details of the vehicle. Like its sedan counterpart, the CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake features a 5.5-liter V8 bi-turbo engine which produces 518 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque while achieving the 0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds.
If this amount of power is insufficient, Mercedes also offers a performance package available on the ‘Edition 1’ model helping boost power to 550 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque which helps increase the 0-100km/h dash by 0.1 seconds to 4.3 seconds. Both variants have an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h (155mph).
AMG fitted their Speedshift MCT 7-Speed transmission which offers four different transmission modes which include Controlled Efficiency, Sport, Sport Plus, and Manual. The vehicle also features AMG Ride Control available in Comfort, Sport, and Sport Plus settings.
With so much available power, high-performance braking is needed and provided by 360mm ventilated and perforated disc brakes on all four corners as well as an option for ceramic high-performance composite braking system. On the exterior of the vehicle, the CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake has an aggressive yet subtle styling package with newly designed bumpers, wide LED daytime running lights, wider body, quad tailpipes, and 19-inch alloy wheels.
Both the CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake and ‘Edition 1’ will be available for sale in October of 2012 and pricing details will be available around that time.
