It doesn’t seem that like much time has passed when McLaren fully entered the sports car market with their MP4-12C sports car, which was later called the 12C and has now evolved into the 650S. They went on to build the absolutely “bonkers” P1 and now they’ve introduced an “entry-level” sports car, called the McLaren 570S.
The 570S is said to be a direct competitor to the Porsche 911 Turbo and slots below the 650S. The British automaker will also offer a less powerful and more affordable version of this car called the 570C.
The McLaren 570S is powered by the engine from the 650S but has been de-tuned in this application. The engine is a 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8, producing 562 horsepower at 7,400 rpm and 443 pound-feet of torque at 6,500 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed SSG gearbox. The 570S features a newly designed carbon fiber chassis and the car tips the scales at 2,895 pounds dry. The baby McLaren reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.2 seconds and tops out at 204 mph. Not bad for an entry-level McLaren.
Styling on the McLaren 570S looks very similar to the rest of the McLaren family of cars. I’m not personally a fan of the looks of this car, but that’s subjective. The interior has a minimalist layout, and I actually like it better than the 650S.
The McLaren 570S will have a starting price of $184,800 in the United States.
