I’m sure most of our watch-fan readers have seen advertisements with tennis star Rafael Nadal wearing Richard Mille watches, in magazines and on billboards. Richard Mille is donating a “Tourbillon RM 27-02 Rafael Nadal” watch to the Only Watch charity auction, this watch has been worn by the Spanish tennis player during the 2015 tennis season, in other words, it has been thoroughly tested.
The watch is very light thanks to its case being constructed out of NTPT carbon fused with TPT Quartz, this is some sort of very light and expensive metal fusion that is beyond my level of understanding. The watch features a case that has an integrated baseplate to hold parts of the movement, kind of like a roll cage in a car, all made out of a single piece of the blended materials, have a look at the image below with the black horizontal pieces of metal coming out of the case between 8 and 10 o’clock positions.
The skeleton dial shows the intricate workings of the movement and the tourbillon held in place by titanium bridges. Via: Phillips
