If you have even the vaguest interest in Parkour, then you’re in for a real treat with the Origins Parkour facility in Vancouver, BC.
What you’re about to watch is five minutes of unadulterated parkour, tricking, and athletic insanity filmed at the newly opened Origins Parkour & Athletic Facility in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I’ll tell you all about the facility in a bit, but start by watching these amazing athletes first.
Origins Parkour & Athletic Facility
I’ve talked about Parkour a few times over the years, and mostly by posting awesome clips like the one you just watched. What you may not know, though, is that Rene – the owner of this Parkour Mecca – is actually my close friend and quasi “athletic mentor”. He spent a lot of time and energy whipping me into shape over the years, and helping me overcome my many physiological quirks. I was that skinny weak guy with terrible posture, and the skills Rene taught me had a profound effect on my well being and health.
What’s Origins Like?
As you may have noticed in the video, the facility is absolutely massive – 10,000sq/ft in fact. If I’m remembering correctly, it was first an ice rink and then a bingo hall before Rene transformed it into its present day form. You really need to see it for yourself to appreciate the massive scale of the place. It’s rare to find a gym this large, let alone one that’s fully equipped for all manner of athletic endeavors.
In terms of equipment, there are more platforms, boxes, bars, sprung floors and weight lifting gear than a person could ever handle. Even when Origins was only half way complete, I had a blast bounding around the half finished structures, and training in the fully decked out weight lifting facility. There’s even a bouldering wall for those times that your arms just aren’t quite dead enough from all the other training, and an astro-turf sprinting area for, well… I think you get the idea. If there’s something related to athletics that you’re trying to improve at, chances are you’ll find the equipment you need here.
More Information
Now, if this entire thing has sounded a bit like a hard sell, I apologize. I have a soft spot for people who turn big dreams into reality, and I’m excited to see such an awesome Parkour facility come to life. They’re a rare beast indeed, with only a few facilities world wide. I assure you, Origins is among the very best.
If you’re interested in learning more about what Origins offers in terms of programs and training, head over to the official Origins Parkour website and have a look around. Flights to Vancouver can be had for relatively little money; you’ll have a chance to train at an amazing facility, and spend some time in a beautiful city.
Good evening!
I am wanting to set up a space for Parkour training and really enjoyed this. They can help me with some information of where to start or what it would take to set up the basics.
Looking forward, thanks.
That is some brilliant park you are taking about. We are trying to have something similar here in Pakistan. In fact we have a trampoline park where we go out to practice. For our own park we are focusing on a park that can be made from usable components.
How much did the whole park cost you guys?
