Automakers and watchmakers have been teaming up for a long time and giving us special/limited edition watches, usually based on a specific car model or a racing team. Swiss watchmaker, Oris, seems to like to spread their love around quite a bit by teaming up with various car makers and racing teams.
The Swiss watchmaker’s latest collaboration is with Audi Sport, commemorating the Audi R18 e-Tron Quattro race car. This is the second year the two organizations have teamed up, with last year’s Oris sponsored team winning the 24 hours of Le Mans race. The collaboration has resulted in the Oris Audi Sport Limited Edition II watches, limited to 2,000 pieces.
The watches come in 44 mm DLC black titanium and stainless steel cases with bi-directional rotating ceramic bezels and double AR coated sapphire crystals. The case backs feature an outline of the R18 race car and the individual number of the watch.
The dial is also black with three hands and large numbers for the hour markers. There’s a 30 minute sub-dial for the chronograph function at the 12 o’clock position, a retrograde seconds display at 9 o’clock, and the day and date window at 3 o’clock. The outer edges of the dial feature a tachymeter and the “Audi Sport” logo is placed in the lower portion of the dial.
The Oris Audi Sport Limited Edition II watches are powered by Sellita SW 500 based Oris caliber 778 automatic movements with 40 hours of power reserve and are water resistant to 100 meters. These watches will be worn by the racing drivers at the 2015 24 hours of Le Mans race and will be available to the public in June at a price of 3,900 Swiss Francs. Via: Oris
Beautiful. I’m still hoping to buy an Oris Col Moschin.
