Porsche 911 Carrera S 50 Years Edition

Fans of the iconic sports car, the Porsche 911, know 2013 is a special year for the car; this year marks the 50th anniversary of the rear-engine car from Germany.  To celebrate, Porsche will be releasing a special edition 911 Carrera S 50 Years Edition; the car will be showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

These special edition cars will be limited to 1,963 units, an appropriate number since the car was first introduced in the year 1963.

The car is based on the standard 911 Carrera S but has the wider body of the Carrera 4S, which is 44mm wider at the rear.  At the heart of the car is a 3.8 liter boxer-six cylinder engine producing 395 horsepower.

The retro-themed 911 Carrera S 50 Years Edition comes with special paint schemes, a Graphite Grey and Geyser Grey metallic.  The one pictured in this post looks very retro, reminds me of an old refrigerator from the 1960’s.  The rear deck features “911 50” badge and the car sits on retro looking 20” wheels.  The interior also has a bit of retro-flavor to it with the center part of the seats covered in cloth, the cloth looks like it was used as curtains in a house in the 60’s.  The headrests have “911 50” stitched on them and the gauges feature green numbers with white needles.

The Porsche 911 Carrera S 50 Years Edition is equipped with a sports exhaust and newly tuned Porsche Active Suspension Management system to cope with the wider body.  The cars will be available in September with prices in the UK starting at £92,257.  Via: Porsche
