Another day, another special edition car, this time it’s the Porsche Cayman S Black Edition and it’s limited to only 500 units worldwide.
The Cayman S Black Edition is not as special as one would think; it only sees a 10 horsepower increase to 330 HP at 7,400 rpm and the torque numbers remain the same at 273 pound-feet at 4,750 rpm, extracted from the massaged 3.4 liter 6-cylinder boxer engine. The car also gets a black paint job with a black interior and black wheels, hence the name.
The Cayman S Black Edition does see minor improvement in performance, the 0 – 62 mph sprint is achieved 0.1 seconds faster with the manual 6-speed transmission (now at 5.1 seconds) and 0.2 seconds faster with the optional Porsche PDK dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Top speed is increased by 2 kilometers per hour to 279 km/h (173 mph) with the manual transmission and 277 km/h (172 mph) with the automatic transmission.
Other features on the Porsche Cayman S Black Edition include special 19” wheels, LED daytime running lights, bi-xenon headlights with dynamic cornering function, rain sensing wipers, anti-glare mirrors, and automatic climate control. All of the 500 cars come with a badge on the dashboard with “Black Edition” and the limited edition serial number engraved. The cars will have a starting price of $65,525 (€45,600) in the US and €68,807 ($98,878) in Germany.
