ID Software released a ton of trailers for Rage over the past few months, but this Uprising Trailer is better than all of them by a huge margin. I’ve probably said this before, but this is a day one purchase for me, – this trailer made sure of that. This is the first trailer to show us a glimpse of what I believe is the cinematic introduction to Rage. We see a large asteroid heading towards earth, while a lone man prepares for a long hibernation in a stasis pod. Afterwards we see a slew of new in-game footage, including the players rescue from a band of mutants, and a warning from his rescuer that Ark survivors are worth a lot of money to the authority – a corrupt organization that the resistance is trying to stop.
Rage Uprising Trailer from ID Software
In terms of visuals, the game looks absolutely amazing. It’s clear that John Carmack put a lot of love and attention into the engine when he designed it, and I think that this will have a positive effect on the game-play as well. ID Tech 5 looks extremely capable in its ability to render detailed locations, big and small, and in incredible amounts of detail. If this Rage Uprising Trailer is any indication of what we can expect from the final game, then we’re all in for a real treat this October.
Rage hits store shelves on October 4th for PC, Xbox360, and PS3.
Why do all modern games have to be generic wannabe movies?
Do you really find Rage generic? I think that, at least in terms of the world, ID Software did a good job making everything look unique. Is there anything in particular that you find generic?
The whole thing looks like your basic PAW. rundown inner city with mutants and one dimensional cliched characters. I guess you don’t see that much character dev in the trailer but my hopes are not high for a unique and engaging world. Big evil gov, resistance fights them. there could be some plot twists but again, not holding my breath. I’m guessing you are your basic super solider that kills everything.
I agree that the world they created has been done before, and even recently – you need only look at games such as Fallout. What I like, though, is that it seems extremely well crafted. Though the setting isn’t unique per se, I think that the visuals do look fairly unique, and quite vibrant for a “wasteland” style world. I think you’re right about the super soldier bit, though. I remember in one of the older trailers that one of the devs mentioned that your character is full of nano-bots.
This isn’t a criticism per s
That’s a very good point, especially if you’re referring to Borderlands before Gearbox made the game look cell shaded. In the early videos, the game had a fairly realistic look.
1:05 Was that John Goodman?
1:26: Wait… Master Chief?
2:30 Generic scream that is impossible to not hear in most forms of media?
I am SO getting this game!
