Tis the season of seriously bad Christmas knit jumpers, unimaginative hors d’oeuvres, and conversation that can be anything but stimulating. So what’s a guy to do during a season packed out with parties and social gatherings that can begin to grate on even the most seasoned of socialites?
Over time, I like to think that I’ve perfected the art of putting on a party that becomes part of festive social season folk law. And the universally regarded epic party usually commands three things of the party thrower:
Go big, go bold and be spontaneous.
My essential elements for a must-attend party
I like to think I’m a pretty generous guy… so here’s how I made sure that every one of my friends and acquaintances is talking about my epic house party beyond the 2015 festive season and into the years to come.
1. A kickass theme: The masked ball
I wanted to go for a fresh theme in the latest of a pretty long line of house parties that left my guests looking dapper.
And what better to opt for in the season of sparkles, sequins, and bling than a masked ball?
2. Epic and unexpected entertainment
In a time where every party organizer tries to outdo one another with ever more impressive entertainment, it cannot be easy to do what’s not been done before. So for entertainment with a definite touch of epicness, you need to go for the unexpected.
This is why my masked ball came with a flash mob that broke into song around my guests.
And, as my particular skill is killing the karaoke, I was the one to kick the flash crowd off with the first few lines.
3. An essential drink
Don’t sweat the small stuff when it comes to your party organizing… I never do.
For my masked ball, I opted for the super flexible and trendy choice of BACARDÍ.
