Last year I wrote about the incredible Romain Gauthier Logical One watch, which I really liked; now the company has released an updated version of that watch, called the Romain Gauthier Logical One Secret. What’s so secret about this watch? If you’d look at the Logical One watch, you’ll see that this new version hides part of the dial with a diamond cover, being able to showcase the dial on demand is the “secret”.
Like the watch it’s based on, the Logical One Secret watch uses some trick technologies, like using a pusher at the 9 o’clock position to wind the watch, replacing the crown to wind the watch. The watch also comes with the patent-pending flat chain-and-fuse style constant force system with ruby chain links, to keep the watch from running too fast or too slow depending on how wound the spring is.
In addition to the cover, the Logical One Secret watches gain a new button on the case, at the 4 o’clock position, that locks and unlocks the cover. The cover and the case are encrusted with 181 invisibly set baguette diamonds, totaling 6.9 karats. Invisibly setting the diamonds is a painstaking process and is very difficult to accomplish. Setting diamond this way removes the borders around the diamonds and makes them look bigger than they are. The watches are also pictured with red/pink stones (rubies?) instead of diamonds, I’m not sure if that’s a ladies version of the Logical One Secret watch.
Other than the diamond encrusted cover, the new version of this watch is the same as the original. The watches come in the same 43 mm x 15.9 mm rose gold cases with AR coated sapphire crystals on the front and the back. The watches are water resistant to 30 meters and are powered by in-house mechanical movements with 60 hour power reserve.
The Romain Gauthier Logical One Secret watches are pretty stunning timepieces. I know they’ll be priced in the six figure range and I if I ever owned one, I’d showcase it in a glass case and probably never wear it. It’s more of an art piece than a watch, and all those diamonds might make people think I’m a rapper or a drug dealer 😉 Via: RG
