Here’s an interesting one… a government sponsored Mentos commercial encouraging the people of Singapore to have sex. Yes, their birth rate is so staggeringly low that the government actually created a national holiday upon which men and women are supposed to copulate.
The video itself is really quite terrible, but the tune is kind of catchy. Whoever they hired to do the singing is actually pretty decent, though the lyrics leave something to be desired.
Mentos Wants YOU To Have a Baby!
Now, I really have to ask… what type of person needs a song to make them want to fuck? I’m sitting here right now and I want to have sex. Hell, I just finished making lunch… the whole time, sex… I was thinking about having sex. I’ve never been to Singapore, and I’m in no way passing judgement on the people of that fine, RAM producing country, but what makes them not want to do it? Is it simply that they don’t want to have children, or do they simply not have sex? If it’s the former, well… I understand that. Babies are disgusting little monsters, but sex? Well, that’s just good old fashioned fun, and sex does not a baby make, if one’s careful.
If you know anything about the low birth rate in Singapore, please weigh in. My knowledge of that country is rather limited, fleshed out only by the odd sound bite by people like William Gibson calling it “Disneyland with a death sentence”. Oh, and I know they have a pretty sweet hotel. The Infinity Pool seems pretty cool, but the other part… not so much. Perhaps that’s why no one wants to have children there? Please, enlighten me.
been there nice people
