It seems that if you live on the “eastside” of any major city, it happens to be the “bad” neighborhood or at least it has been in my experience with “East Saint Louis” and “East Vancouver”. I’m sure there are a few good “easts” out there somewhere. Anyways, if you happen to be working the graveyard shift at the local convenience store or passing through the shady part of town, the Cut-Tex® PRO slash resistant fabric might be just the thing that you need to keep you protected.
The Cut-Tex® PRO cut resistant fabric was showcased at the 2012 Special Equipment Exhibition & Conference for Anti-Terrorism (SEECAT) in Tokyo. The material is developed and produced by the PPSS Group based in the UK. The company’s main focus is to produce equipment/clothing which offers protection from firearms, edged weapons, and yes, people that bite.
Creepy Dude With a Knife and Dramatic Music
The Cut-Tex® PRO slash resistant fabric is made out of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene and other fibers which have been weaved by special high-density knitting machines. The material is certified on the highest international standards possible such as ISO 13997:1999, EN 388:2003, and a few other combinations of numbers and letters that most of us wouldn’t understand.
PPSS Group is using the Cut-Tex® PRO to develop slash resistant clothing for prisons, law enforcement, emergency services, private security, social and health care, and the trades industry such as glass handling and metal handling pressing.
Cutting Action!
This is a pretty cool idea and I’m sure this will save lots of skin and maybe even a life or two. I don’t know how this material would perform against an actual stab from a sharp weapon but as you could see in the video above, even the slash against the chest was painful. I would take just the pain any day as opposed to the pain and a nasty open wound although no slash attempts against me would be ideal. Just remember, the material is “slash resistant”. So doing something retarded will likely result in no protection and possibly the Darwin Award.
…More Cutting
PPSS Group manufactures garments such as a t-shirt, polo shirt, long sleeve, and even a turtle neck to protect the jugular. But my favorite would have to be the boxer shorts which should be worn at all times but especially when you are having issues with the missus.
One might say that these shirts are a… cut above the rest.
