We review and showcase a wide range of interesting products here at Unfinished Man. From knives and fighting umbrellas, to the latest grooming accessories – and everything in between, we’ve covered it – but I can say with confidence that we’ve never posted a security door review featuring burly men trying to smash through Sur doors with sledgehammers.
What you’re about to watch is two giant men named Senol and Gerdal swinging a sledgehammer at a metal security door in an attempt to show us just how strong and theft resistant it is. For comparison, they also try to smash in a regular old wimpy door, and the results… well, they’ll speak for themselves.
Sur Doors – The Strongest Security Doors Ever Made?
I don’t know what the thieves are like in Turkey, but I’m fairly certain they don’t use a sledgehammer to break into homes here in North America. That really takes the concept of “smash and grab” to a whole new and ridiculous level.
That people need doors this strong to protest their valuables is really quite mind blowing, but perhaps this is a sign of things to come world wide. Perhaps companies like Astas will make a killing selling us reinforced pig-steel, titanium, diamond coated security doors to protect our junk.
Now, I was curious how well these Sur doors actually stacked up against other security doors, and also whether they were exporting outside of Turkey. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to find the answer to either of these questions – or even a decent side by side comparison of common security doors – but what I did find is an extremely comprehensive home anti-burglary guide from the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation of all places. You can read through it here if you’ve got about a half hour to burn, and most of the suggestions for reinforcing doors and windows are pretty straight forward.
If you have any tips on burglar proofing a house or even an apartment, feel free to share them in the comments below. I mean, that… or other hilarious videos of people smashing Sur doors. We aren’t picky here.
After just watching the SUR security door video 11/06/2013 and all being in the construction industry. I have a huge issue as to whether these doors are either practical or cost affective to be honest.
Like you comment people apart from police or rescue services in the UK rarely if at all use sledge hammers or battering rams to gain access to a property they wish to Rob.
They the same as i would use a method that is a lot less noisy to avoid attracting attention (I may I add get paid to break in while the owner is there. lost keys usually) I won’t disclose how purely for peoples home security. But the cheap door as SUR called it took approximately 2minutes to break thru with the hammers, and that was still in a condition where as you would find it extremely hard and painfully dangerous to reach the door locks inside.
The SUR door again wall falls away before damage to door but using correct equipment and not breaking a sweat i could have it open inside 2 minutes is my belief.
So the challenge now is how long can the SUR super door and the cheap door stand up to a skilled locksmith and his professional bag of tricks and tools. I thinking both about the same time.
Well unless SUR use locks made from adamanteum (the metal wolverines skeleton is made from lol)
So SUR lets see how my challenge teases a reaction from you?????
Agreed, I think the likelihood of someone breaking into a home like this is pretty minimal. Why smash the door down when you can simply pick the lock?
i don’t think those locks can be picked easily since i guess they’re mul-T-lock. Not even by a professional locksmith. The torture test its very impressive and in my experience most break-ins are violent. Now the only test I would love to see is the cordless drill angainst the Sur door. Nevertheless, this is one great door for protecting your valuables or your junk haha
If the door is that hard to get through, wouldn’t you just smash through the wall beside the door? unless it is re enforced steel it would be easy access, as far as the locks go If you spend that kind of money on the door and frame, wouldn’t you install pick proof & bump proof locks? again, it would make sense not to go half way.Steve. from Ontario, Canada.
