I wish I had taken a picture of my smile before I started my teeth whitening regime, the difference in the color is huge! I went from a smile that was cringe worthy to a smile that people now comment on. ‘wow, your smile is so bright!’ I hear that all the time now. want a great smile? keep reading for my step by step process on how I got my teeth looking white and how i keep them this way.
Professional Clean
The first thing I did to get my teeth looking white is visit my regular dentist for a regular check up and clean. You will get the best results from whitening if your teeth do not have plaque build up or any other festering issues.
Whitening Kit
After the clean is done its time to choose a whitening kit. You can use Crest Whitestrips, you can get it from your local Walmart and is relatively inexpensive. Depending on what type you get and how yellow your teeth are you will need to use this for as long as up to 14 days.
14 days might sound like a lot of time to invest into teeth whitening but the strips are only used for about 30 min each night and trust me, the results are definitely worth it!.
Use A Whitening ToothPaste
The most important part of my routine was definitely was using whitening toothpaste every night. I also timed my brushing and made sure to do 2 minutes minimum. This made a huge difference in the shade of my teeth. I used Crest HD which is more expensive and is a two step process but this one works better than any I’ve tried so its definitely worth it.
Maintenance
Maintenance is just as important, if not more important, than the whitening process is. It is vital that you brush, floss and use mouthwash twice (minimum once) a day. Make sure you are reaching all the teeth at the back and not just the teeth that show when you smile. If you are a beginner to flossing then your teeth might bleed for the first few days but keep at it and the bleeding will eventually reduce and stop.
