For someone who lives in Canada, not far from Whistler, British Columbia, it’s kind of funny how little I actually know about snowboarding. I’ve only gone once, and until this video, I had never heard of Travis Rice; a fact that I’m betting many snowboarders would consider blasphemy.
What I do know, though, is an awesome video when I see one. This trailer for upcoming snowboard documentary The Art of FLIGHT is most assuredly awesome, and has me reconsidering my lack of time on the slopes.
The Art of FLIGHT Trailer
The Art of FLIGHT follows Travis Rice and a slew of other professional snowboarders as they travel the globe and snowboard on some of the most amazing untouched landscapes I’ve seen captured on video. I’m a sucker for great cinematography, and many of the shots are stunning.
Even if you have little interest in snowboarding, this movie looks to have plenty of eye candy in the way of beautiful landscapes. These snowboarders take pride in boarding on unique, untouched land. Then there’s the fact that these guys are extremely talented. Even in this short 3 minute teaser, we get to see a ton of death-defying techniques as the boarders rocket down the mountain towards glory, and a massive paycheck from Redbull as well.
Once you’ve watched the video, you’ll probably wonder what the music playing in the background is. It’s a great atmospheric tune that creates a real sense of danger and urgency, and I’ve taken the liberty of finding it for you. Wasn’t that nice of me? The song is called Fire Shall Devour Them and it’s from a group called The Three Corners Of The Earth. Again, I’ve never heard of them, but the music is excellent. If you’re ever hurdling down the side of a mountain, you’ll have the perfect music to accompany you.
The Art of FLIGHT is available on Amazon for $29.95. If you’re looking to watch The Art of FLIGHT free online, unfortunately that doesn’t seem to be offered, but the movie has been out long enough now that perhaps the studio will reconsider.
Watched this movie last week. So sick.
Hands down the best snowboard video to date.
