Though I’ve played and even enjoyed some of the many Call of Duty games over the years, it would be somewhat of a stretch to say that I’m a huge fan of the series. I would much prefer these guys to come up with an entirely new franchise… something fresh.
But as we both well know, this is about as likely to happen as Microsoft leaving the Halo franchise to rest for a while.
Having said that, I am a huge fan of this new teaser for Call of Duty®: Black Ops III. If nothing else, it’s an interesting reflection of a topic that everyone has been thinking about for the last few years: human enhancement.
We’re quickly reaching a point where many modifications to the human body will be trivial, at least… for those people that can afford them. We’re entering a time of incredible potential, but what will we do with these discoveries? How will this rapid, seemingly endless pace of innovation shape our species?
Only time will tell, but I suspect that Black Ops III and many other games, movies, television, and even music will explore these topics over the months and years to come. We’re living in a pretty exciting time.
