Do you guys remember the definition of insanity video that we posted from Far Cry 3 way back when? It’s the one where Vaas – played by the very talented Michael Mando – goes on a tirade about the, well… the definition of insanity. I consider that scene some of Michael’s most memorable work, and now he’s treating us with something very similar, and yet very different. This time he’s defining something else for us… a particular genre of music known simply as dubstep.
If you’ve seen the original video I mentioned earlier, then you already have a pretty good idea how this plays out. The key here is that this time he’s slamming a genre of music that’s almost universally terrible. There, I said it; almost all dubstep is terrible beyond reason and comprehension.

I know, it’s not fair to paint things with such broad strokes, even when it comes to Dubstep. Even I’ll admit that there’s one Dubstep group that I dislike less than all the others, and that’s Nero.
I’m mostly just happy that Michael seems to feel the same way about the genre as I do; a style of music full of endless repetition and irritating wub after bloody wub. How such a terrible “sound” has managed to become so pervasive in society, and in particular video game culture, is beyond me. I can only hope that someone will have mercy on me, and another musical fad will wash this one away. Perhaps next time I interview Michael Mando I can ask him about this video, and give him a good firm hand shake and a thank you.
Far Cry 3 comes out later this year for PC, Xbox360, and PS3. You’ll find more information about the game on the official website, and more information about Michael on his website.
