Over the years I’ve come across a lot of unusual watches that don’t display time in the “traditional” way; we’ve even written about quite a few very unique watches in our watch section. The Nadir watch is another watch that displays time unconventionally, in a way I’ve never seen or even thought of.
I didn’t know “Nadir” was an actual thing, I had a friend named Nadir and thought it was just a name. “Nadir is the deepest point on a celestial sphere directly beneath a surface position. It indicates the profoundest depth which lies below”, check out the Wikipedia description for nadir. Based on the descriptions, I think I get what the word means and how that’s applied to the watch’s design.
Unlike traditional watches where the hour and minutes indices are located on the outer edges of the dial, the Nadir watch places the numbers on a disc at the center of the dial. Instead of the hour/minute/second hands pointing outwards at the numbers, the hands on this watch point inwards at the disc and rotate like normal hands.
The Nadir watch is unisex, but it would be a bit on the bigger side for women with its 40 mm case. The watch is 8.8 mm thick and comes in a black IP stainless steel case with a 20 mm black leather strap or an available black silicone strap.
I think the Nadir watch is pretty cool looking with a minimalist/modern look to it. And when you throw in the unique way it displays time that makes it even more special, and it’s pretty reasonably priced at $125.
