The summer is a great time to go on road trips or just short trips to soak up some sun, enjoy the weather and have a good time. Regardless of where you live in the country, there are lots of options for stuff you can do over a weekend where you can get out of your everyday life and experience something new. It’s a great time to just be laidback and enjoy a good time. So we’re going to talk about some great specific travel destinations, and if not it will hopefully inspire you to go somewhere new near you.
Any of the major cities
It’s of course hard to narrow down because there are so many amazing cities in the US, from New York to Boston to Los Angeles, take your pick, whatever’s close. It’s always a good idea to visit a website such as tripadvisor.com which has some great suggestions on what activities to do while you are the area. Being spontaneous is great, but with a little effort you can narrow down the amazing places to visit and cut out the waste of time spent deciding what to do when you get there.
Yellowstone/Yosemite
If you live near Yellowstone or Yosemite this could make a great trip, either camping or staying in a hotel (but probably camping) and enjoy nature and the amazing things it can do. If you love rock-climbing and want to push yourself even further, Yosemite has a few amazing (definitely dangerous) mountains to climb.
Grand Canyon
Need I say more? If you are anywhere near this beauty you should definitely be taking the time to go see and hang out and maybe do a few hikes. Not everyone in the world lives near such incredible places, you should take advantage of it.
The Mountains
This is of course generic, but a mountain adventure in the summer if you leave near any could be just what you were looking for. We all like to complain during the winter we want the cold weather again, but really we just want a couple of days relief—something the mountains can definitely provide. It’s a great change of scenery and there are pretty much mountains all over the US.
The Beach/The Lake
If you live near a body of water, it can be great to just go and spend a night or two to lay out and enjoy the sun, the people, and the water. It’s a great idea for a day trip too if you live close enough. It will surely provide you with that much-needed summer relaxation.
Any Forest
Hiking can be so much fun because you get lovely views and you get to see wildlife that otherwise you probably wouldn’t see in suburban or city areas. Not only that, but it’s even exercise too, and you can even trick your body into thinking you’re having fun. If you live close to Califoornia, it is definitely worth the effort to visit Redwood forrest. Here you will see some of the tallest trees on earth!
Regardless of where you live, there are places for you to go to for a nice weekend trip, or a long trip, or even a day trip. It’s a huge country and the options are endless. Be creative and get out there this summer, wherever that may be. Please be sure to read up in advance on any warnings in the area such as cougars and bears and take precautions when planning your adventure.
