If you’re clued into the Apple world you know that the latest iPhone, the iPhone 7, was just released and is available for purchase. Like any new Apple product, it’s always surrounded by hype and excitement because it’s always cutting edge, super cool, sleek and always comes with new features that’s exciting to learn about. While every iPhone has made some pretty revolutionary changes in the world of cell phones, the iPhone 7 has some pretty big changes. Is it worth the extra money? Should you invest in the 7 rather than keeping your current iPhone or move to another company? Let’s fine out.
The newest iPhone adds the new colors, black and jet black, which is pretty exciting. In the past the selection for iPhone colors was pretty small and while there was always something for everyone (since you could have gray and black) it always seemed odd you wouldn’t have all black. You now have this option and this is great for anyone who wants a really futuristic and sleek phone. The jet-black is certainly impressive and will wow, that’s for sure. You can still get all the original and regular colors as well.
There are two big changes to this new phone over the previous ones. The first is the camera. The camera is improved significantly now with 12MP, optical image stabilization, 7MP FaceTime, Quad-LED True Tone Flash and, if you get the 7 Plus, two cameras that shoot as one to have the effect of a wide angle or telephoto lens. This has optical zoom up to 2x, which is really exciting because before you could only use an iPhone for digital zoom. You can still use digital zoom up to 10x.
The second biggest change to the new iPhone is the fact they’ve done away with the headphone jack. It really depends on your personal preferences on how you listen to music on how much this is going to affect you. If you only listen through your phone, then this is actually kind of cool, but if you use it for other things as well like on a laptop or iPod, then you’re going to have some problems.
Rather than coming with the standard iPhone earbuds, you now will get the EarPods which look the same, just without the wire. While it’s a cool touch, it does make them significantly easier to lose.
In other changes, the display is more colorful and 25% brighter than ever before and is also 2 times faster than the 6 with an even longer battery life. The phone also comes with a new stereo speaker system that’s 2 times louder than the iPhone 6s, which is also pretty cool.
So is it worth it? Well, it depends how you purchase the phone on how much it will cost you, but the features are all pretty awesome and are totally worth the upgrade. The biggest downside is the new EarPods because it makes it harder for adaptability, but I guess that’s what you get for being on the cutting edge of technology.
