Three ways to make your flying experience STELLAR

Flying is still a thing that I do so rarely that it feels like a special occasion. As such I am forever spending way too much time and frankly carry-on space on items to make the flight less painful/annoying.

Unless the flight is cross country I find that I just don’t have enough time on a flight to do any actual “work”. Especially when you consider how long you actually have access to your “large devices”. Yeaahhhh……So I’m not gonna get any work done there. Maybe on a long layover but other than that travel time is best used to enjoy my traveling companion or a piece of media.

The first way to make your flying experience it to know what NOT to order when that lovely flight attendant comes by to ask what you might like to drink.

First and foremost consideration that the water on the plane(unless bottled) is just barely above potable. So avoid coffee, tea, and non-bottled water. If you drink soda, (I gave up the stuff years ago) you can ask for the can to get the most bang for your buck.

If your flight is over 90 min I ALWAYS ask for the can of carbonated water or lemonade. I can dole out sips of tasty beverage at my own pace and easily stow the can in the seatback pocket.

The second way to improve your flight experience is in what you wear. Please wear layers. For the love of puppies and kittens and Christmas. Layer up because planes get cold AF once you’re in the air. If you get warm that’s ok you can easily strip it off and use it as a pillow.

Third and finally, Manage your body! If you have two 90 min flights and an hour layover don’t chug the entire 16 oz bottle of water during your rushed layover. Getting to the tiny restrooms is a pain in the neck. It’s not like they are all that hygienic
anyway.
