If I had a job description here at Unfinished Man, it would probably say something about entertaining you guys. If I didn’t post up sexy women every so often, or write about the most recent insane video I watched, you guys probably wouldn’t come back. But… I’m also here to teach you things, and I think that today’s “lesson” will be entertaining too.
Now, I’ve written about SpaceX and space exploration quite a bit over the last few years. I’ve always been passionate about humanities’s future in the stars, but that’s risen to a fever pitch since Spacex hit the block. I’m not going to go over history for those of you that have never heard of them (you guys can just check out their website, it’s awesome!), and instead show you some of the new technology that they’re developing. I’ll explain why after you’ve watched the video.
SpaceX Falcon 9 Reusable 1000m Test Flight

Video of Falcon 9 Reusable (F9R) during a 1000m test flight at our rocket development facility in McGregor, TX. This flight was our first test of a set of steerable fins that provide control of the rocket during the fly back portion of return. The fins deploy approximately a minute and 15 seconds into the flight, and return to their original position just prior to landing.

Stop, don’t do it. As much as the world needs more baristas, it needs more engineers and smart people just like you working at companies like SpaceX. I’m assuming you’re not a child (if you are, don’t yell at me when your mother yells at you for viewing all the weird shit I write about), so let me instead appeal to your adult mind and say the following: don’t you think it would be amazing to visit space? Maybe do a little stint on Mars?
What about massive, phallic like rockets? They’re pretty cool too, and they take extremely sophisticated software to run them… software written by brilliant nerds like you.
The world doesn’t need any more bloggers, trust me on that one. It doesn’t need any more marketing people, or lawyers. It needs smart people doing clever things, and you could be one of those people.
