1. SEMRush
SEMRush is a marketing platform where you can access your site’s rankings and traffic easily. With SEMRush, you can focus on the creative side of your website while the tool takes care of the data!
The SEO tool helps you with keyword research, site audits, free webinars and even the ability to compare domains so that you can stay on top of your competition.
I use this SEO tool daily to help me figure out the right keywords to optimize for as well as track how much traffic is coming to my sites.
2. Google Search Console
Of course, Google is known for offering some of the best free tools out there and it doesn’t stop at SEO.
Google Search Console helps identify duplicate metadata and also the number of indexed pages on your site. It is also a great free tool to search how much traffic your site is receiving.
Looking for a list of keywords you rank for? Google Search Console CAN give you that!
Over the last few years, I have used Google Search Console and I absolutely love it! I seem to learn new things about it all of the time.
With Google Search Console, you can actually understand your audience better. This gives you an opportunity to better optimize your site for your audience.
One of the best things I love about it is that it always alerts me to any security issues that my site may see. It also alerts me to any issues that some mobile users have with links.
3. Screaming Frog
Screaming Frog boasts as the industry’s leading website crawler.
But what does that even mean?
This free tool will crawl the URLs of websites and look for any key elements to analyze data. This means it will audit technical and onsite SEO for you to improve your SEO.
Is your website having issues with content or link building? Screaming Frog will crawl your website to find ANY issues. It is especially helpful to find which pages are returning 404 errors.
Screaming Frog will also look at your content for H1 and title tags and even word counts!
A quick audit from Screaming Frog will give you an in-depth understanding of your website while offering recommendations to improve your site.
4. MOZ: SEO Software
This is probably my FAVORITE SEO tool.
Why?
MOZ provides a plethora of information about your website like keyword recommendations and performance insight.
How does MOZ do this? It keeps up with the times! Which means it is always making recommendations with the latest Google algorithm in mind. When Google changes its algorithm, it can change how SEO impacts your website.
But with MOZ, you stay on top of the changes.
I really like to use MOZ to help find the right keywords I should be using as well as the domain authority.
MOZ even offers a really handy toolbar for Google Chrome. So anytime you go to a website, the toolbar will automatically display the DA of the site. You can even go into it further by seeing more such as traffic, just from the toolbar. How cool is that?
5. Spy Fu
Wondering what a particular keyword ranks? Spy Fu will let you know! It will also let you know the difficulty level of ranking the keyword. Plus, it can access your competitors to see how they are ranking with a targeted keyword.
Spy Fu can also let you know how many times a certain keyword is searched each month.
This is a REALLY great tool to see how many clicks a keyword is receiving, which paid and organic competitors are using this keyword, and if any ads were created around this keyword in Google AdWords.
6. Fat Rank
Fat Rank is an amazing free keyword tool that is perfect for small businesses.
For some reason, this free tool doesn’t get as much attention as it SHOULD!
The purpose of this Chrome extension is to help you optimize your page for a certain keyword.
All you have to do is enter the keyword you are using. Fat Rank will display the first 100 results of the keyword you are searching. If you aren’t listed in these results, you will know your keyword isn’t ranking and that some changes need to be made.
