Top Reasons to Skip the ‘Baby Shower’ and have a ‘Sip & See’

Everyone knows what a baby shower is; somebody close to the bride holds an event where you shower the pregnant mama with gifts, usually there is tons of food and guests range from close family and friends to maybe not so close family and friends.

There are so many benefits to skipping the traditional ‘Baby Shower’ and having a ‘Sip & See’ instead.

Timing
A ‘sip & see’ happens AFTER the baby is born as opposed to before. You invite friends and family all at once on a specified day and time and everyone gets to see your new baby at the same time. This way you wont have to get dressed dozens of times and host numerous people on various days. You get more alone time with your baby and you don’t have to shower as often! If you are really lucky you wont have to host anyone at your house at all and your best friend will offer to throw this for you.

Another huge benefit is that you can create a gift registry of things that you actually need as opposed to items you think you might need.

More Intimate
At a ‘sip & see’ the guest list is usually just close friends and family. I am personally not a fan of big and boisterous gatherings and definitely prefer quality over quantity especially when it comes to special events.

Less Expensive
This new tradition is quickly gaining popularity and one of the main reasons is expense! Whether you are throwing your own ‘sip & see’ or its thrown for you by a loved one, its cheaper than a traditional ‘Baby Shower’. At a Baby Shower you would probably be expected to serve some type of lunch and and never mind the fancy cake or cupcakes. While at a Sip & See, guests sip on sparkling drinks and maybe some light finger food. Much more economical for sure!

I love the idea of a ‘Sip & See’ as opposed to a baby shower. What do you think?
