Triumph Tiger Explorer XC

“…that’s not a knife,… that’s a knife…” (Crocodile Dundee reference) is what popped in my head when I saw a picture of the all-new Triumph Tiger Explorer XC 2013 motorcycle.  The “XC” is based on a regular Tiger Explorer but with added bits and pieces which make it look tough and worthy of the aforementioned Crocodile Dundee reference.

Normally I prefer to ride and write about sports bikes but that Triumph Tiger Explorer XC is such a cool looking off-road adventure bike, I just had to share it with our viewers.  I can see this bike featured in “around the world…” type adventure documentaries.

The Tiger Explorer XC is powered by a 1215cc 3-cylinder engine that produces 135 horsepower and 89 pound-feet of torque, enough power to get you through the roughest roads and biggest sand dunes.  The bike is equipped with 19” front and 17” rear steel spoked wheels.  The bike also comes with some sweet accessories that are functional and give the bike that tough look that caught my eye.  The most prominent is a set of 55 watt fog lights on the front shocks and 22mm black steel skid guard to protect the engine and other vital components from being damaged on rough terrain.  Other accessories include an aluminum belly pan, hand guards, and another 50+ items that should allow owners to make their XC look different from other adventurers.

The Triumph Tiger Explorer XC 2013 will be officially unveiled at Intermot – International Motor Show in Cologne in October.  The bikes will hit dealerships in March 2013; prices should be higher than the regular Tiger Explorer, which has an MSRP of $15,699.
